Oilers extend affiliation with Fort Wayne Stars
3-1 victory in Game 2 gives Oilers series lead
Edmonton Oilers extend their affiliation with the Fort Wayne Stars of the ECHL for the 2023-24 season.
The Oilers and Stars have been affiliated since 2014, and the partnership has been mutually beneficial. The Stars have developed several players who have gone on to play in the NHL, including Ethan Bear, Caleb Jones, and Evan Bouchard.
In addition to providing a development pipeline for the Oilers, the affiliation also gives the Stars access to Oilers resources and expertise. The Oilers have a long history of success in player development, and the Stars have benefited from their guidance.
The Oilers are coming off a successful season in which they reached the Western Conference Finals. The Stars also had a strong season, finishing second in their division. The two teams are looking to build on their success in the 2023-24 season.
The Oilers will open their season on October 12 against the Vancouver Canucks. The Stars will open their season on October 21 against the Kalamazoo Wings.
